One of the things I value most about my journal writing practice is that it helps me to cultivate hope and optimism and gratitude in a world that is filled with VUCA. VUCA is an acronym—first used in 1987—to describe or to reflect on the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations.
We all must find ways to counter feelings of despair, hopelessness, fear and more that can be part of our human experience. Journal writing is a way of finding perspective, grounding in the here and now and staying aware of all the beauty and possibilities in our lives. We can write about things that bring us joy, things we are grateful for, and express the dreams and hopes we have for our future, individually and globally.
I like to read positive messages and quotes as springboards into my own journaling. Here are some of my favourite websites to visit (and subscribe to for good news and inspiration):
gratefulness.org
dailyom.com

Hi Lynda..
I don’t have a specific site to visit. I usually Google the phrase of how I’m feeling, with the words: relief from… or healing_____, etc. And sometimes add a favorite inspiring person’s name. Then I’ll play around with more inspiration that comes. It always, always leads me too just what I need, even if it’s a phrase that ends me referencing a book in my collection..which ends up being helpful.
Of late, John O’,Donahue’s work has been speaking to me, especially his poem: For New Beginnings, as well as: Beginnings. … which you can read a lot of his poems on his FB page. Here’s For New Beginnings

Thanks, Cheryl. I love John O’Donohue’s writing – it is always so nourishing and inspiring!
