Meet Lynda Monk

Lynda Monk, MSW, RSW, CPCC,
Director
, IAJW.org

I’m so happy you’ve found your way to this place where journal writers belong.  My name is Lynda Monk and I have been journaling since I was a little girl. I was about 8 years old when I got my first journal, I still remember the little pink diary with a lock and key. I remember sitting at the desk in my bedroom, with the hum of the halogen lamp, writing down my thoughts and feelings. This is a practice that has evolved and continued throughout my entire life. Journaling is not just something that I do, it is a practice that shapes who I am.

With my abiding passion for the transformational power of journaling, I’m grateful to be the leader of the International Association for Journal Writing, fondly known as the IAJW. I’m a Registered Social Worker and Certified Professional Co-Active Coach with over 30 years experience offering training and coaching in the areas of burnout prevention, self-care, and resilience for helpers, healers, and change leaders. I also regularly write, speak, and teach about the healing power of expressive writing and storytelling.

I have authored many articles, courses, coaching programs and resources on the healing and transformational power of journaling, including Life Source Writing: A Reflective Journaling Practice for Self-Discovery, Self-Care, Wellness and Creativityas well as co-authored a book called Writing Alone Together: Journaling in a Circle of Women for Creativity, Compassion and Connection. Together with Eric Maisel, we co-edited, The Transformational Power of Journaling for Coaches, Therapists and Clients: A Complete Guide to the Benefits of Personal Writing, The Great Book of Journaling; and Affirmations for Self-Love.

Journaling is a key tool to know, grow and care for ourselves in meaningful ways. It is a positive, effective, and life enriching practice that makes a difference! Being part of our IAJW journaling community can fuel your creative self-expression while inspiring you and your writing!
