Journaling is a reflective and creative practice that has made a huge difference in my life and well-being. Journaling helped me prevent burnout in the early years of my social work career. It has helped me cope during times of grief and loss, including the long good-bye associated to having both my parents suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. It has supported me to discover and follow my dreams. It helps me be the best I can be as a partner and as a mom to our two teen sons. I can’t think of one aspect of my life that is not positively impacted by my life-long journaling practice.
Journal writing is not only personally invaluable to me, it is central to my work in the world. I regularly speak, teach, write and speak about the healing and transformational power of journal writing.
As a registered social worker, certified life coach, workshop facilitator and retreat leader, I have over 30 years’ experience supporting others to live their best lives, and to know, grow and care for themselves in various ways, including through the healing power of writing.
I am co-editor of 2 books on journaling: The Great Book of Journaling: How Journal Writing Can Support a Life of Wellness, Creativity, Meaning and Purpose (2022) and Transformational Journaling for Coaches, Therapists and Clients: A Complete Guide to the Benefits of Personal Writing (2021). I am co-author of Writing Alone Together: Journalling in a Circle of Women for Creativity, Compassion and Connection (2014).
I infuse my passion for journaling and personal growth into everything I do as the leader of the International Association for Journal Writing. I am deeply devoted to growing and serving our caring, creative and inspiring global community that exists especially for journal writers!
