I love reading poetry.  I am a quote collector.  I have the words of others in my journals, on post-it notes hanging on my walls.  Powerful words inspire my own writing in my journal and beyond.

The following poem Plea by Frances Balter is a wonderful invitation, as Pat Schneider (author of How the Light Gets In: writing as a spiritual practice) says, “into they mystery of all that I do not understand.”

PLEA

Like the Navaho who sings

With the first light rays

Encouraging the arc of day,

I long to speak of light

So flagrant with color that

Beyond my valley of silence

My voice might be heard.

Teach me.
