About this Journaling Example

Every month in our IAJW Journaling Community, we have a Writing Alone Together (WAT) Circle. This is a time to come together with fellow journal writers from around the world and do what we love, which is to grow and care for ourselves through expressive writing. Our WAT circles are one hour and we begin with a brief introduction to the theme, followed by a grounding arrival meditation, and then I offer various journaling prompts where participants write freely. At the half-way point, we shift from writing to the sharing portion of our circle where people are invited to share what they wrote, or a portion of what they wrote, or what it was like to do the writing or they can simply enjoy listening to what others read and offer. The Writing Alone Together Circle is inspiring, creative, and nourishing and it is welcoming of journal writers worldwide!

Love Inspired Journaling Prompt

This month our theme was….

______ makes the world go round!

And the answer is, LOVE.

All of our journaling prompts were love inspired.

A simple prompt we worked with was:

Love is…

Here is my journal writing that flowed from this prompt…

Love is.. by Lynda Monk, a journal entry

Love is…

a snuggle with my sweet Sadie girl

coffee with my honey

watching the sunrise in the quiet of morning

a walk in Burgoyne Bay after the snowfall

Love is…

feeding my mom yogurt,

since she can no longer eat solid foods,

because she no longer remembers she has to chew.

She no longer knows who I am,

as I hold a spoon of soft food to her lips.

Love is…

listening to my aunt talk about the recent death

of her lifelong friend.

Love is…

a decision we make,

over and over again.

Love is…

sharing a piece of chocolate,

while walking holding hands.

Love is…

back rubs before bed.

Love is…

pulling the blanket over my teenage son while he sleeps,

like I did night after night when he was my baby boy.

Love is…

everything and everywhere,

if we let it be.

Love is…

the altar,

I put my life upon.

Invitation: Love is..

Feel welcome to add your own Love is… journaling to the comments below.

Words are a love language.

Thank you.
