“The impediment to action advances action. The obstacle becomes the way.” ~ Marcus Aurelius
Life often feels like an obstacle course, an ongoing test of uncertainty, challenge, and change. The stress of living with internal conflict can leave you feeling confused and discouraged, cut off from others and your spiritual source. When you come to see that the solutions to your problems are contained within the challenges themselves, however, you gain essential insight into resilience, and the power of turning Your obstacles upside down.
In this transformational, four-week workshop, Mark will guide you through a series of writing explorations intended to prompt insight, self-awareness, and positive change. In an atmosphere of mutual support, encouragement, inspiration, and fun, he helps you to examine deep, provocative questions about the stories you live by, and limited beliefs that are holding you back.
As he teaches in Writing to Awaken, “When you tell the truth, your story changes. When your story changes, your life is transformed.”
“Simply put –- if you’re looking to make a change, reach beyond your comfort zone and see the world and your life through fresh eyes – take a seminar with Mark Matousek who is a truly great teacher as well as a great writer.” ~Mary Jo, Philanthropist
During your time together, Mark will offer incisive one-on-one feedback, as well as giving you personalized prompts to deepen your writing practice.
You will examine:
- How fear limits wise choice making
- How negative predictions block creativity
- Where fresh opportunities are hidden in your blind spots
- Why trust is necessary for wise action
- How imagination liberates you from false beliefs
- How journaling can be used as a problem-solving tool
When you learn to approach life challenges with courage, flexibility, and imagination, you empower yourself enormously. Writing to Awaken has helped thousands of people around the world to reach their creative and spiritual goals, and it would be great to have you with us.
Weekly Course Overview
Week One: Writing the Truth
In this first session, we focus on naming the obstacles in our lives, clearly, and considering them through different frames. When you change how you look at adversity, the way through becomes more obvious.
Week Two: Imagination and Resilience
In our second lesson, we explore imagination as an untapped, frequently overlooked power in the arsenal of resilience and transformation. Journaling helps us to exercise this critical creative muscle in the face of life’s trials and tribulations.
Week Three: Fear and Resistance
Imagination and ingenuity are often blocked by fear and resistance, as we write about in this third session. Journaling helps us locate and dismantle our fears, and shows us how resistance shuts down creative thinking and the ability to discover alternative ways forward.
Week Four: The Path of Desire
In our final session, we trace the power-line of desire in our lives, and the wisdom that comes from tapping deeply into the source of our vitality, which reveals the path ahead. Having learned to change how you see your challenges, you’re now able to view yourself, your life and potential, with more optimism, spirit, and courage.
